I'm No Hero

Delve deep within my soul and you will find
A surging swell of love, the truest kind;
There is no pain of yours that I don't claim
Each sword that pierces you cuts me the same.

Each burning tear you've shed shall ever be
Engraved upon my heart indelibly;
Don't think the slightest pang escapes my eye
Please know my very core can sense each sigh.

I'd face hell's blazing throes to spare you, child,
From any raging tempest thrashing wild
And all life's searing flames for you I'd smother;
No. I'm no hero. I am just your mother.
