Heartstring
Laces
(For
My Granddaughter Nicole)
A
smile bright beams from your face
As
tiny fingers work each lace
You
scream with glee, "I tied my shoes!"
I'm
filled with awe, begin to muse.
Will
life's each challenge be thus met
With
courage firm and not much fret;
Will
wonderment e'er fill your soul;
What
lies ahead for you, Nicole?
This
is my heartfelt hope, my prayer
May
troubles sore not be your care;
May
child's dreams for you come true;
A
kindly lot is wished for you.
Let
innocence and you ne'er part;
Find
loveliness in every heart;
Seek
beauty in each passing face;
Greet
each new dawn filled with His grace.
When
grandkids of your very own
Cause
muse so gentle to be sown
Long
years ahead when I'm not there
Recall
my love and Mom-Mom's prayer.
As
tiny fingers work each lace
A
smile breaks across my face.

You
Gazed Into My Eyes Tonight
(For
My Grandson Christian)
You
gazed into my eyes tonight
I
spied a glimmer of delight
A
smile filled with heaven's grace
So
swiftly spread across your face;
Alone
we were, just you and me
Enraptured
in sweet reverie;
These
times of ponder are the best
By
far more special than the rest;
I
gazed into your eyes tonight
You
filled my soul with sheer delight;
You
touched my hand and then my face
A
moment safe from time's erase;
Those
eyes that will a future see
Long
after I shall cease to be
Tonight
have told me I am blessed
They'll
not forsake me when I rest;
They'll
carry me long past this night
Remembering
long gone delight
Recalling
well this time and place
When
we were touched by heaven's grace
And
through your eyes I too will see
Those
future days still yet to be
Long
after I am laid to rest
You'll
sing for me that we were blessed.
